Dare to Dream
Star light. Star bright. First star I see tonight. I wish I may. I wish I might. Have the wish I wish for tonight.

Yesterday (Sunday, 23/1), my friends and I took up the opportunity of a lifetime to be entrepreneurs for a day! The location? Blk 188, Bt Batok Ave.6.... the event? Dr Vivian was visiting the Bt Batok constituency thus the makeshift bazaar stalls to sell off our goodies to the residents. Plus there's also the Punggel or is it Punggal festival. There were 2 cows all decked up in nice sari-like materials and there were loud Indian music, lots of Indian singing and Bhangra dancing! Happening lah dey!

And our sales? It wasn't too bad coz while still busy putting up our food displays, we had one Indian man who bought kueh from us!

On the whole, our sale was very good and we managed to sell off everything!!!

Thanks to my dear team members -- Sam, Abg Im, Baqir, Big Boss Man, Ihsan, Hafiz and Hafiz Ju. And oh not forgetting to Wak Dol too... even though his keropok came in rather last minute, we still managed to sell it all too. But Wak Dol, next time, you'll have to be more creative when packing your keropok. Pls dont use Zip-Loc bags lah!!! hehheheheh!!! Cute lah this Wak Dol!

I believe I've got a good and dedicated team. Thanks guys for all the hard work and time put in. We can do this again!!! Now jus waiting for Mr Treasurer Abg Imran to calculate how much net profit we gained from yesterday's sales.

And apart from that, I still managed to go to Kak Siti's wedding and send them my parents' regards since they cant make it. Also met the new Miss Klutz On the Block -- Hafeeza who dropped glasses at the wedding while trying to get her drink! Hehehehe!!!

Not only that, I even managed to do some research for my major essay but still have yet to finalise on the question that I want to do.

It was a long and tiring day but at least I maximise every minute of it doing something useful.

Finally...some time to breathe...
I'm down with diarrhoe, still working on my ep2 editing script and since there's no religious class today, I get to sleep more. Yes I am deprived of sleep. I didn't sleep the whole day till about 7.30 in the morning trying to crack my brain on the editing script. It was mad! And I have to continue wih the script on Sunday evening. And please don't forget I have filming on Monday morning! And the best thing is that I have not even started research for my final essay! Oh my gosh! I just realised that I am now living in a mad world! Hehheheheh....

VCDs you should watch
A friend lent me 2 of his VCDs and below are my so-called reviews on them.

1) OSAMA by Siddiq Barmak.
Nope. This movie ain't about that terrorist, Osama bin Laden. Instead, it was a beautiful yet
tragic tale of a 12 year old girl by the name of Osama living in Taliban ruled Afghanistan.
With the Taliban's rule that all woman should not go out to work, Osama was forced to
disguise herself as a boy and find work to feed her mum and grandmother.

Osama soon embarked on a terrifying and confusing journey in the hope that the Taliban
regime will not find out her real identity.

This movie captured the essence of life under the cruel Taliban regime beautifully and subtly.
You will not find disturbing scenes of head being cut or man being shot in the head.
Everything was done subtly from the journalist who was shot dead to the part when Osama
and her mom were stopped by the Taliban regime and all the camera showed were the bicycle
wheels.

Osama proved that violence can be illustrated in other means and ways. It is amazing how Osama is able to evoke just as much hatred and angst towards the Taliban regime through its clever use of subtle scenes and lines.

My rating: 9/10.

2) My Girl (Thai movie)
Firstly, let me tell you that this movie was directed by 6 first-time directors!
So you director wannabes out there, if the Thais can do it, so can you! Just make sure you
work hard and if there's more than 1 of you directing, split the scenes among yourselves
and just make sure you do a damn good job!

My Girl is sweet rather it is bitter sweet. It revolves around the lives of 2 childhood friends,
Jaeb and Noi Nah as they go about their daily lives -- going to school, play together etc.
Jaeb being the only boy in the neighbourhood has no choice but to play with the girls!
So you will see Jaeb acting as the "father", the "husband" and the much fought over
"boyfriend" amongst his group of girlfriends in the movie! Sweeeeeet I tell you!

But ultimately a boy's gotta do what a boy always wanted to -- play soccer, swim, cycle and
just be a boy! So Jaeb gradually shifted his focus from his circle of girlfriends to the rowdy boys
from the other neighbourhood.

Witness the tension between Jaeb and Noi Nah when he started playing with the boys and how the lovable Noi Nah tried to cheer him up by playing soccer with him!

Cinematography wise, this movie is beautiful and the kids can sure act! My favourite is of
course Jack the fat bully! Check out his acting.... Power!

And mind you, my 5 year old sister, even though she doesn't understand a word the kids
were talking about, she remained glued to the TV screen and watched it over and over!

If you ever wonder if Jaeb and Noi Nah are gonna be together till adolescence caught up with
them, why don't you watch as the story unfolds before you? You wont get bored. Trust me.

My rating: 9/10

Thank you scientist for lending me such good VCDs.
So if you have any other good titles, you know what to do... lend them to me! Heheheh!!
Maybe I should be a VCD reviewer... Hhmm??? Any interested VCD distributors?
